Essex To Marbella Bike is a cancer charity fundraising initiative aimed at raising in excess of £100,000 for Cancer Research UK, Children with Cancer, Breast Cancer Now and Orchid (fighting male cancer).
The team will be cycling 1400 miles, departing from the Essex County Cricket Ground on Tuesday 10th May 2016 via La Sala Chigwell to Marbella for a spectacular Gala Dinner celebration at La Sala Banus on Wednesday 25th May 2016 covering 100 miles/day.
Paul Gravatt, who dreamt up this crazy challenge, will be joined by old friends Jon Dalby and Simon Puttock as well as La Sala’s very own former Premier League football stars Stephen Carr and David Bentley. Paul’s inspiration: “My mum and mother-in-law have both recently beaten cancer but having lost other family and friends to cancer way before their time I felt I had to do something to support these fantastic charities in their fight to beat cancer.
After La Sala were approached for their support of the event Stephen also decided he wanted to get personally involved: “I’m really excited by the cycling challenge and raising a lot of money for our cancer charities. Cancer has invaded the lives of so many people I know, and I just couldn’t resist getting involved and helping to make a difference.”
